On time, on budget, on track: Big Build phases 1 & 2 complete

We are delighted to announce that the first two stages of the Big Build have been completed on time and on budget. The works included a major extension to the previously tiny Year 4 classroom and the relocation of the school office from the first floor to a new, dedicated lobby on the ground floor. These improvements are already transforming daily life at Hatherop Primary, and it’s wonderful to see staff and children enjoying the new spaces.

Our heartfelt thanks go to the Austen Dawson team, who went above and beyond – working tirelessly, including many weekends – to ensure everything was ready for the start of term. We are also extremely grateful to the Governors on the Buildings Working Group, who visited regularly over the summer to monitor progress, and to Mrs Scaysbrook, who kept the complex administration running smoothly throughout.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of families, friends, and the wider community, fundraising for Phases 1 & 2 has now topped £300,000. That support has enabled us to deliver these vital improvements on schedule and shows just what can be achieved when our community pulls together.

Looking ahead, Phase 3 – replacing the old Year 5 & 6 classroom with a brand-new school hall – is scheduled for Summer 2026. It will be the most ambitious part of the project yet, and one that will benefit Hatherop children for generations to come.

Thank you to everyone who has played a part in reaching this milestone.
