From fivers to a fortune: Hatherop pupils raise £10,300

Earlier this year, Hatherop pupils took part in the ‘Grow-a-Fiver’ challenge, an initiative that put their creativity, determination and entrepreneurial flair to the test. Every child was given just £5 and tasked with turning it into as much money as possible.

The results were nothing short of inspiring. Pupils came up with a huge range of ideas—from bracelet-making, cupcake-baking and mountain-climbing to long-distance cycling. One group even went all out and organised a full school disco! The energy, teamwork and imagination on display showed just how resourceful our young fundraisers can be.

After adding up the totals, we are delighted to reveal that the children collectively raised an astonishing £10,300—with further contributions still coming in. This incredible sum will go directly towards supporting the Big Build project.

A huge congratulations to every child who took part, and heartfelt thanks to the Growth Hub for donating the starter fivers, and to Midas Communications for generously matchfunding the initial donation. Together, you have made this challenge a fantastic success and a shining example of what can be achieved when the whole community pulls together.
